FRIDAY ROOTS PARTNERS
Disney Trivia: Who says the following?
- “I’m not leaving here until we find some other act of true love to save you! Do you happen to have any ideas?”
- “Love … is … putting someone else’s needs before yours. Like, you know, how Kristoff brought you back here to Hans and left you forever.”
- “Some people are worth melting for.”

Compare these quotes to Jesus.
Do you know about Jesus wanting to call us friends?
love does
In John 15:12-17, what is Jesus’s part and what is our part?
12 “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. 14 You are my friends if you do what I command you. 15 No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you. 16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you. 17 These things I command you, so that you will love one another.”
How is obeying Jesus’ commands a result of a friendship with Jesus based on love and respect?
God has a lot to say about friendship. In the following Scriptures, what is our part?
- Ecclesiastes 4:9-10a 9 Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. 10 For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow.
- Proverbs 17:17a A friend loves at all times.
- Proverbs 18:24 A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.
- Luke 6:31 31 And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them.
- Colossians 3:12-14 12 Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, 13 bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. 14 And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.
As God has been to us, how can we be likewise to others?
Do you think we will actually do it? Why or why not?
Based on today’s reading what is God saying to you?
