MONDAY ROOTS PARTNERS
Please begin by making sure you know a little about one another: Name, something about your family, something you like to do.
Opening Questions
- What’s something you liked about the quarantine?
- What’s something you missed?
- What do you want to remember?
- Do you think we missed people or things more?
We are made for relationships
Read Genesis 1:26-28;31a
26 Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. 31 And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good.
Questions:
- What do you think it means to be made in God’s image?
- Does this sound like a relationship? Like a family?
- How does knowing God make you understand who you are?
- What did God say about what He made?
Psalm 139:14a says we are fearfully and wonderfully made.
- In verse 26 why does it say “us” and “our” for God?
- Have you heard of the Trinity (3 together as 1), God the Father, God the Son (Jesus), and God the Holy Spirit?
Read John 1:1-4;14;18 (“the Word” means Jesus; substitute the name of Jesus if that helps)
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. 18 No one has ever seen God; the only God, who is at the Father’s side, he has made him known.
- Where was Jesus’ position in the beginning?
- What and who have been made through Jesus?
We are connected to God and each other-relationships.
- Based on today’s reading what is God saying to you?
Conclude your Roots today by praying for each other.
